ECO DRY CLEANING

Eco Dry Cleaning is an advanced “Wet Cleaning” dry-to-dry method that uses specially formulated bio-degradable detergents that are non-toxic and safer for the environment.

Traditional Dry Cleaning on the other hand commonly uses a chemical called Perchloroethylene (PERC), a strong toxic solvent. You may have noticed a distinct dry cleaning smell that persists for days.

Inhalation of this odour through wearing clothes that have been cleaned using this process and/or skin contact with these garments risk exposure to this hazardous chemical.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has deemed PERC to be a health and environmental hazard. Long and short exposure to PERC has been known to cause skin irritation, dizziness, headaches and even long-term diseases such as cancer.

Dry Cleaning isn’t exactly a dry process either. The clothes do get wet, however, the liquid solvent evaporates much quicker than water.

Awareness about the harmful effects of PERC on people’s health and the environment has revolutionised the industry and driven a shift to more environmentally friendly Dry Cleaning alternatives.

One such alternative is “Wet Cleaning” which utilizes advanced commercial washing machines and tumble driers with high-tech finishing equipment to clean your garments to perfection. It is a water-based garment care system that has undergone extensive testing with all fabric types including silks, leather, suede, cashmere, wool, linen and cotton.

The cleaning process offers superior stain removal on the most delicate of fabrics and is exceptionally gentle. Your clothing will be returned smelling fresh and clean with no residual toxic odour. Furthermore, there is no disposal of hazardous waste.

Orbit is committed to a more sustainable future for the dry cleaning industry by implementing systems and practices that are not only better for the environment but better for the health of our customers and staff.
